JUAN VASQUEZ: FARRIER EXTRAORDINAIRE
Wild Mustang in the Snow
COLD, it was, that March morning. The snow fell slowly like large tissues on the breeze. The cold was in my bones as it shook through the forest like invisible beast. Creeks and cracks echoed through the deep grey upon the deep breath of that Mustang. He stood still, blanketed with the white as his snorts rumbled in the air.
This is a wild Mustang from Pancake, Nevada. Photographed while being trained here on Long Island. It was a bit scary being in the ring with this beautiful horse. He was petrified and in shock from his life’s radical change. As time went on he began to trust and calm came over him. These images were taken on a snowy March morning in 2018.
